Have Your Say
Have your say on draft recommendations for Somerset West and Taunton
In May 2018, the government decided to create a new local authority called Somerset West and Taunton Council. The council will replace the existing authorities of West Somerset Council and Taunton Deane Borough Council.
The Commission is now carrying out an electoral review of the new council to decide the number of councillors that should be elected to the authority as well as the names and boundaries of council wards.
We have an open mind about further suggestions from local people to change and improve these recommendations. We will consider all the submissions we receive whoever they are from and whether your evidence applies to the whole of Somerset West and Taunton or just a part of the area.
Below, you can see our proposals for new ward boundaries (in red) and search across the whole of Somerset West and Taunton, even down to street level. You can also click on any ward to find out how many voters are included in it and how many councillors we propose should represent it.
You can submit comments to us or upload a document by clicking on the ‘Have your say’ link Have Your Say. You can also draw your own boundaries and annotate the map by clicking on the button.
This stage of the consultation closes on 27 August 2018.

We would like to thank Bill Hodgson of Wootton Websites for his help in setting up the site. If you require a website of your own why not check out his site.
Waste Notice
With the continuing hot weather, Somerset Waste Partnership and our collections contractor Kier have agreed that all waste collections from now on will start at the earlier time of 6am to help ease the pressure on crews and vehicles. We would be grateful if you could let your residents know of the change, which will stay in place until cooler weather returns, and of the need to ensure all waste containers are out on time.
While we will always do our best to keep parishes informed of waste changes, you may find it useful to bookmark the SWP website to see news announcements:
