Council encourages residents to tell them about empty properties #NationalEmptyHomesWeek

Somerset Council is encouraging residents to report empty homes as part of a national initiative.National Empty Homes Week 2026 runs from 9 to 15 March.The awareness week aims to highlight the waste of long-term empty homes, which can become a focus point for anti-social behaviour, crime, littering and other activity which may become a nuisance for neighbouring areas and the community. Vacant homes also attract vermin, can be unsafe and they can also de-value other houses nearby.

Somerset Health and Wellbeing Survey

Somerset Council has launched a Health and Wellbeing Survey which opened on Monday 2 March and runs until Monday 27 April, gives residents the opportunity to highlight what matters most to them, helping the council focus future work on the issues that have the greatest impact on local communities. Everyone who takes part will be entered into a draw to win a £50 love to shop voucher. Can we ask for your help to promote this to your residents and encourage you to take part . Road Closure

Date Change – Temporary Road Closure: Dunster To Timberscombe Road, Timberscombe

Please be aware that we have received notification of a date change to a temporary road closure at Dunster To Timberscombe Road, Timberscombe for approximately 81 metres.

The new date for the works to commence is 17th March 2026  and is expected to last until  18th March 2026 between the hours of 18:30 – 03:00.

These works are for Wessex Water to carry out reinstatement works.

The contractor has indicated that access for Emergency Services through the site  is not permitted on this occasion.
