Are these yours?

Two pictures left in the village hall after the show. If the young artists that created these would like to claim them then please contact Pauline on 01643 841546 to arrange collection.  If we don’t hear anything they will be sympathetically recycled.

M5 incident witnesses sought

Witnesses and dashcam are being sought after a trailer carrying straw bales overturned on the M5 in Somerset.

Motorists faced disruption following the incident that happened at about 7.20pm on Monday 28 August, on the northbound carriageway between junctions 26 (Wellington) and 25 (Taunton).

The trailer overturning forced the M5 to be closed in both directions for about an hour to ensure people were safe and to clear the debris.

Fortunately, there were no reported injuries.

We believe there were three people in the blue Kia Sorento car that was towing the trailer at the time of the collision, however two of them left the scene prior to police attendance. They were described as white males, in their 30s, of a large build and had facial hair.

We believe there may have been people who took video footage of the other occupants as they left the scene and would ask them to please get in touch with us, plus any other witnesses or motorists with dashcam. If you can help us, please contact us online and call 101 and quote reference number 5223208657.

If you can help, please call 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5223208657, or complete our online appeals form.

Emergency Road Closure: –  Main Road, Carhampton

I am sending this notice out, as it has been supplied by Wessex Water. Please note, however, that this may be subject to changes as the diversion and timing of the closure has been questioned by our  County Councillor, Frances Nicholson. As anybody who lives locally will know , the diversion route is not suitable for lorries, etc. and the work days include Butlins changeover days.  It would be wise, however, to allow extra time for your journey on these days just in case this work happens.

Please be aware that we have received a notification of a TTRN  (Emergency) road closure at Main RoadCarhampton  which will commence on 31st August 2023 – 1st September 2023 (00:00 – 23:59) for a total of 2 days.

This will enable Wessex Water to carry out supply separation works.

The contractor has indicated that access for Emergency Services through the site  is not permitted on this occasion.

For any further information about this closure please contact Wessex Water on 03456 004 600, quoting reference: ttro092401W.

Please visit one.network  https://one.network/?tm=135330548 where you will see the map of the affected area (in red), together with the supplied diversion route (in blue).

Please note: this diversion route could be subject to change on review.
