History Group meeting Monday 21st March at 7pm

You are most welcome to come along and join a History Group meeting in St Petrock’s Church. We will give a summary of the archaeological findings from 2020-21 when the churchyard was partly trenched to provide services to the church.

There will also be a talk about the Friendly Societies of Somerset by Phil Hoyland who has researched many village friendly societies and their club walks in this area.

Membership renewals are due at £10 per person and thereafter £1 per meeting attended. Visitors welcome at £4. Light refreshments available. Meetings usually last for 1 hour.

Thank you for supporting the appeal!

At St Petrock’s Church last Sunday and on the following few days, we made an appeal for the DEC -Disaster Emergency Committee- in aid of Ukrainian refugees. We would like to thank everybody who dug deep into their pockets and supported the DEC appeal to supply much – needed humanitarian aid to Ukraine. You all know who you are and we are very grateful that you responded so quickly. Your generosity has enabled us to send a total of £500 to help alleviate the suffering of nearly 2 million displaced innocent people who have nothing left after fleeing multiple war zones. Thank you all. John Gratton and Marion Jeffrey.

Crisis – Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal

With the terrible events unfolding and worsening in Ukraine, we appeal to all who can to contribute to the Disasters Emergency Committee. We will be making a special collection at the 11am service this Sunday 6th March in St Petrock’s Church. If not attending the service, donations can be made between 10.30 and 11.00 and again from 12.00 to 12.30 on that day.

The Government will match pound for pound up to £20 million money donated by the public to this urgent appeal to help people fleeing the conflict in Ukraine by providing emergency humanitarian aid to civilians. All the money goes to help them. Please support this appeal if you possibly can.

More information can be found and ways to donate online https://www.dec.org.uk/appeal/ukraine-humanitarian-appeal

Thank you.
