Thank you for Christmas generosity

Christingle and Carol Service.

A big thank you to the whole village for your wonderful support at these two recent Christmas events.

The first Christingle, held by The Church of England, was in 1968 to raise funds for The Children’s Society but the tradition can be traced back to 1747 in Germany. The word Christingle first appeared in the Oxford English Dictionary in 1986. The Children’s Society estimates that around one million people now attend a Christingle service in the UK and the service still raises money for children’s charities.

This is the reason St Petrock’s split your generous donations between The Children’s Society and Save the Children.

This year £524.28 was raised between the two services and the two charities have each been sent £262.14. A wonderful total!

Thank you once again.

Christingle on Christmas Eve at 5pm

Everyone at St Petrock’s looks forward to welcoming you to our Christingle this Wednesday at 5pm in the church. A traditional event with an Exmoor flavour for all to come together, reflect, sing carols and enjoy. There will be no refreshments afterwards on this occasion. Any donations will be gratefully received by two childrens’ charities – The Children’s Society and Save the Children. Thank you – Marion and Kate

Thank you from St Petrock’s Church

It is a busy time in Advent with so many services and community events happening in the church, and we want to thank everyone who has been, and is so supportive, of them all. We owe an enormous debt of gratitude to everyone who supported our Christmas coffee and craft morning last Saturday 6th December. It was a very happy and busy event with lots of people coming to meet up with others, enjoy refreshments, and browse for seasonal gifts. Our craft table holders were delighted with their trade and business was brisk which was excellent. Our fabulous home made Christmas cake was a great success and helped, along with donations, contribute to a wonderful total which has now risen to £812. We thank everyone who helped in any way, to make this a great annual fundraiser for the church.

And yesterday, Sunday 14th, we had our Carol Service which was a joyous event with a packed church. Again, our thanks to all the helpers who made this possible and so enjoyable, with varied traditional and more modern readings, plenty of singing and all finishing with mulled wine and lashings of mince pies. None of this would be possible without your support, and we thank you all.

Christingle is always celebrated with great enthusiasm in Timberscombe, so make sure to arrive in plenty of time! on Christmas Eve for a 5pm start. All are welcome.

Thank you from Marion, Kate and all the PCC
