Grabbist Benefice Evening Praise

Benefice Evening Praise Sunday 30 June at 6pm, St George’s Church, Dunster

For the first Benefice Service of this year, we hope to fill Dunster’s wonderful church with as many friends as possible from all the Benefice churches, and to, in Keith’s words, shake the church’s ancient fabrIc with the glory of many voices accompanied by the organ.

We want to invite each parish to  choose one favourite hymn and one reserve (in case of duplication – we want each parish to have one named hymn). Please let any of the benefice clergy know (Nicola, Nicola, Margaret or Kenneth) so that we can put together the order of service.

It is our hope, in addition to have enough experienced singers in all four parts (Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass) to prepare two short anthems (Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring by J.S.Bach and With a voice of Singing by Martin Shaw). Organist Keith Jones will rehearse this joint choir, and rehearsals (over within the hour) will be held in St. Michael’s Church Alcombe on the following days:
Sunday May 19th at 4 pm.
Sunday June 23rd at 4 pm
Friday June 29th at 4 pm

On Sunday June 30th, the day of the Service there will be an obviously important rehearsal in St.George’s Church at 5 pm, immediately before Benefice Praise.
Those experienced singers wishing to sing in the choir are asked to let Keith Jones know by e-mail a.s.a.p. Indicating whether they are S, A, T or B, and their availability for the rehearsals at ksenoj40@gmail.com
please come along to this lovely service and meet others in the Grabbist Hill Benefice!

Many thanks – Rev Kenneth Cross

Owen Rush

We are very sorry to let you know that Owen was taken into Taunton Hospital on last Sunday morning.

Sadly due to his heart failure nothing could be done to help him recover, but he was made comfortable and passed away peacefully on Monday afternoon.

His funeral will take place at 2pm on Thursday 30th May at Taunton Deane Crematorium (Wellington New Road, Bishops Hull, Taunton, TA1 5NE). All are welcome, and afterwards at Rumwell Farm Shop Cafe (1.5 miles down the A38).

Dad’s ashes will be interred privately at Stoke Poges Memorial Garden in Buckinghamshire over the summer. The gardens are open to anyone who wishes to visit and pay their respects.

Donations in lieu of flowers please to Muscular Dystrophy UK or to support Ukraine refugees in the UK, via Hedley Price Funeral Directors, Mart Road, Minehead, TA24 5BJ  Tel: 01643 703111
