I thought you might be interested in a bit of bird news!

This Woodcock ringed on a farm just outside Timberscombe two years ago has just been recovered in Toftlund in Denmark, nearly 1000km away. Sadly it was shot last week as it returned from its breeding territory in northern Russia, on the way to its wintering grounds on Exmoor. Nevertheless such data helps us understand and protect such birds. Over 500 birds are ringed every year in the Timberscome area, so if you find any dead birds, please check for rings on the leg, and report the details to the Euring website at https://euring.org/
