On Friday, 25th September a band will ring a peal at our church commencing at 1pm. This will last for approximately 3 hours. Kate explained about peals in one of the Dunkery Tidings. It consists of 5040 changes, and is completed without a break, bells changing their position on every stroke. Dedicated bell ringers love to achieve this in different churches with some ringers notching up more than 3000. They call it the equivalent of running a marathon! They are not always achieved, one mistake and the whole thing collapses. We only have one of these a year and it will be nice to hear what I would call ‘professional’ ringers ringing.
