Great House Street Update

Following the successful conclusion of the Wessex Water work in Great House Street, Somerset Highways department have finally accepted that the water on the road in GHS is not from a water main but is, in fact, from an underwater stream.

As a result of pressure from the Parish Council and our county councillors the Assistant Highway Service Manager has now visited the site and has made plans to divert the water into a nearby drain, before it crosses the roadway. This plan will require the agreement of Wessex Water before work can begin. The manager has forwarded plans to the council contractor, Kier, for them to undertake the work.

Unfortunately, Kier are well behind with their programme of work, so the work might still take some time to complete but it is , at last, on their schedule of work. Hurrah !!!
