Great House Street Update

I have contacted Somerset  Council (who now run the Somerset Waste Partnership) and they are now aware that the recycling crews will need to change their collection times to ensure that our waste is collected before 9am or after 3pm, during the Wessex Water road closures. We will see if it happens !!!

I have had queries regarding using the Village Hall car park during the closure. Whilst the Village Hall Committee have been very flexible about cars in the car park overnight during past road closures, this will not be possible during the daytime. The school pays the Hall to use the carpark and their cars usually fill the car park during school time. There is very unlikely to be any spaces between 9am and 3pm when the school is open.

If you are able to park in a friend’s driveway, please do so. If not it seem likely that we will have to park on the main road, unless anybody has any better suggestions! Please park carefully to avoid blocking the vision of those exiting Vicarage Court, Brook Street, The Old Dairy or using the bus stop.

Please also use the Post Office (where possible) , or a friend’s address for deliveries.

Police Notice

You may be familiar with the names, Street Safe, Walk & Talk – we hope you are – but for anyone that isn’t, the attached documents provide information on both initiatives. These show why both are so beneficial to our communities and how you can get involved.

Please take a moment to view these documents and share them with your families and friends.

Wessex Water

The next stage of the Wessex Water works in Great House Street, Willow View and Willow Bank to Timberscombe Quarry start on 24th June.

Residents should be aware that the works will be between 9am and 3pm.

Outside of this period the road will be clear and full access will be permitted.

During the hours 9am to 3pm residents will not be able to drive through the roadworks, although access for emergency vehicles will be permitted.

I have queried what will happen regarding refuse collections and am awaiting a response.

I am also awaiting a response re pedestrian access past the workmen, for those people who can’t get up the steps by the chapel.

If residents have a specific reason for requiring access eg slinky bus collections, they should advise the on site workmen who will do their very best to assist. However, the more times they have to stop work the longer the work will take to complete, so please only do this for absolutely essential access.

The Post Office is able to accept Amazon deliveries, or please use a friend outside of the roadworks for deliveries during this period.

For any further information about this closure please contact Wessex Water on 0345 600 4600, quoting reference: ttro629898W(WS).

Please note that should you require to view a closure which is more than two weeks ahead, you will need to register for free with www.One.Network
