Residents in Great House Street and beyond will have received a letter from Wessex Water stating that GHS will be closed on Monday 24th and Tuesday 25th April to ALL through traffic.
Having spoken to Wessex Water it now seems that the works should only take a few hours on Monday 24th, unless they find something unexpected.
The workmen will arrive at 8am, so if you need your car on this day make sure you exit before 8am. Emergency vehicles will be permitted to access . They are now aware that the refuse lorry will need to access the GHS houses, so you can put your rubbish out as usual.
An emergency alert is a loud, siren-like sound with a message on the screen of your mobile phone or tablet.
The system will enable people to be contacted via their mobile device when lives are in danger. Emergency alerts are sent to compatible mobile devices within an area of risk. They don’t track your location, need your phone number, or collect personal data, and only the emergency services can send them.
You can check an alert is genuine and find out more at gov.uk/alerts.

Yoga Classes start on Monday 17th April!
Wootton Courtenay 10 – 11:15am
Wheddon Cross 7 – 8:30pm
These classes are slow, gentle, and steadily strength building. Over the weeks, we focus on different areas and joints in the body: shoulders & upper back, core & pelvis, legs, arms.
It is so important for our bodies to be responsive. We need enough strength to sustain good posture. We need enough flexibility to ensure we don’t feel ’stuck’ or ’tight’ and so that our movement doesn’t become restricted.
We need (especially as we age) to work regularly on our balance to reduce the likelihood of falling. Load bearing (no impact) helps to maintain the density of our bones and movement keeps our joints as happy as they can be!
Mike Dibble has been coming to yoga classes with me for over 10 years. Here’s what he has to say about it:
‘I have been practicing Yoga with Terry for a number of years, inspired to take Yoga up when health issues indicated that I needed mental and physical strength. She has always been friendly, helpful to all of us as individuals and clearly showing deep knowledge of both the physical and mental side of Yoga. The sessions are both enjoyable and effective. Though I am often the only male attending I am welcome and enjoy the company of my classmates. Come on gents, Yoga is for everyone!’
