Timberscombe Author

Note from Gabrielle Horrobin

Completed at last, here is the paperback version of my mother’s story as published by myself through Amazon.  This has been a labour of love and rather more difficult than anticipated.  It is also available as a Kindle edition, downloadable to your iPad, Tablet, Kindle or phone.

I very much hope you will enjoy reading this biography, describing my mother’s experience of the last two years of WWII in Germany, the tragedy, the humanity and absurdity of the war, told with gentle humour by a brave and optimistic young woman.

Amazon Scam

Please be aware that one of our residents has had two calls this week from someone claiming to be from Amazon. They are calling from this number  01357746949, supposedly from Amazon and trying to get access to account details.

Amazon DO NOT ring customers asking for account updates, etc

Road Closure A358

SCC will be surface dressing the A358 Williton to Taunton road on the West Bagborough section on Monday, 15 and Tuesday, 16 June.  As this section of road is narrow, the road will need to be closed for a period of time in order to get the machinery through.  The agreed closure dates and times are:-

  • Monday 15th June 2020 between 09:30am and 12:30pm (3 hours)
  • Tuesday 16th June 2020 between 09:30am and 12:30pm (3 hours)

The diversion for heavy vehicles will be from Williton to Taunton via Bridgwater, using the A39 and A38.  Light vehicles will be able to use the B3190 and B3224 via Raleigh’s Cross in order to avoid the closed section of A358.

During these periods the number 28 Taunton to Minehead bus service will avoid the section of A358 between Bishops Lydeard and Williton and instead divert via Raleigh’s Cross.

Face masks mandatory at NHS Hospitals

The Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC) has announced that all staff in hospitals in England will be provided with surgical masks which they will be expected to wear from 15 June. NHS staff already wear face masks in clinical areas within two metres of a patient, but the new guidance applies to everyone working in all areas of the hospital.

Members of the public are strongly urged to attend hospital wearing a face covering, but a face mask will be provided in emergencies. DHSC is working with the social care sector to implement a similar approach.  Read more here.
