Written by Alan Bennett and directed by Nicholas Hytner, The Choral follows a choral society in the fictional English town of Ramsden during the First World War as it prepares for a performance of Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius.   With the choir master and many of the choir’s members having been lost to the war, the locals turn to the talented but controversial Dr Henry Guthrie, played by Ralph Fiennes, to take on the ambitious musical project.

Cutcombe Road Closed Wednesday

The A396 will be closed between Wheddon Cross and Timberscombe  Wednesday 5th November between 9.30am and 4.30pm.

The closure was requested by Avon and Somerset Police as part of an ongoing investigation.

Road users are advised to please plan ahead and use alternative routes if you are travelling between these times tomorrow.

The 198 bus service between Dulverton and Minehead will be diverted during the closure period.

Gardening Club

Don’t forget Gardening Club Monday evening in the church at 7.30pm. Janice Peters will be demonstrating floral and greenery arrangements for Christmas giving us ideas of what to do to enhance our homes for Christmas. Her arrangements will be raffled/auctioned off afterwards so bring some extra money. Refreshments afterwards, our usual raffle and remember the best flower in your garden for our competition. Crayfish Talk

I’ve been volunteering with the ENPA Crayfish Group, and the scientist leading the project, Dr Nicky Green, will be giving a talk in Dunster in November, along with her colleague Vanessa Becker-Hughes. They would like to engage with as many Exmoor residents as possible. Their crayfish and eel surveys have been carried out on the River Avill, so the talks will have plenty of local interest (see poster below).
