A HUGE Thank You to everyone who made the Platinum Jubilee celebrations such a success

Timberscombe Platinum Jubilee Fete and Street Party was a fantastic day full
of great spirit! Starting off the day with fete games, face painting, a
bouncy obstacle course, tombola & raffle with very generous prizes! It was
lovely to see the whole village come together with all ages participating.
One of the main events was the fancy dress parade around the village for the
Coronation of the ‘Timberscombe King & Queen!’ Congratulations to Jack
Dymond & Percy Lloyd on being crowned King & Queen. A massive well done to all
the children involved is well deserved as the outfits were so impressive and
our judges Sheila Ridd and Joyce Smith really had a hard choice because the
entries were all of such a high standard.

The village church had a two day exhibition of historic material with a
focus on matters royal – a wonderful Jubilee exhibition was put on with a
large variety of items on loan, and a History Group display showed how royal
visits to our village and celebrations had been recorded in the past. The
village school contributed a giant image of the Queen with lots of
individual portraits too. Music from the Coronation was played throughout and it was
an opportunity to show how important our church is in the heart of the
village with lots of residents and tourists visiting the exhibits and
enjoying refreshments.

The celebrations of the day also involved the ‘Jubilee Big Lunch’ supported
by the villagers in the street, many of whom brought delicious buffet food
to share. The afternoon continued with a heavily contested doughnut eating
competition for both the children & adults -this of course was full of
laughter and cheers!
The village was thronging with locals and visitors who contributed a huge
amount and created an amazing buzz. What a great crowd! A day we are sure to
remember well!

We rounded the Jubilee celebrations off by having the live band ‘Rough
Justice’ and a delicious BBQ outside The Lion Inn, which is the hub of our
Village and played a huge part in making the day so enjoyable. We thank
everyone involved in making an incredible day possible with such friendship
and goodwill, and look forward to the possibility of making a village street
party an annual event..

Reminder – Annual Parochial Church Meeting – ALL WELCOME

The APCM will take place on Thursday 26th May at 6.00pm in St Petrock’s Church.

The first part of the meeting, called the Vestry meeting, gives everyone in Timberscombe the chance to elect two churchwardens, and this is followed by the Annual Meeting, which contains reports on the happenings of the church over the past year and an opportunity for those on the Church Electoral roll to appoint six members of the Parochial Church Council.

Everyone is welcome to come along to support their village church.
