Wessex Water help

Wessex Water are holding drop-in sessions around our supply area to allow our customers to come in and talk to us face to face. During our drop-in sessions, we can help our customers with enquiries about their bill, offer advice on what help is available if they are struggling to pay, or refer them to get the support they require . We’ll also be able to offer advice on saving water and avoiding blockages as well as information about their water quality, plumbing, or drainage.
I am delighted to tell you that I will be holding a one-off drop-in session on Thursday 21st November 2024 between 10am-2pm at the Beach Hotel, Minehead (enter via double doors to the right of the front entrance from the pavement)

curry and quiz night – Saturday 21st September

Thank you for supporting this Curry and Quiz night, with all tickets sold. A gentle reminder please to arrive as close to 7pm as possible as the curry will be served before the quiz starts (hopefully 7.45pm). We look forward to enjoying a fun evening at The Lion Inn, courtesy of Malc Passmore, and raising some money for our local village church upkeeep while testing our general knowledge….

Minehead Beach & town spring clean

Minehead Beach & town spring clean, Sunday 22nd of September, 1.00pm -3.00pm. Meet outside the The Beach Hotel at 1.00pm for briefing.

Come along and help with a mass spring clean on Minehead Beach & town .

This is part of the Marine Conservation Society’s Great British Beach Clean event and is being run in conjunction with Plastic Free Minehead, The Beach Hotel, Plastic Free Communities in West Somerset, Severn Estuary Partnership, Litter Free Coast and Sea Somerset, Minehead and Coast Development Trust, Keep Britain Tidy and Surfers Against Sewage. Following a H&S briefing at 1:00pm outside The Beach Hotel, we will walk down the steps directly onto the sandy stretch of beach opposite The Queens Hall and Merlins Amusements, and conduct a detailed survey (counting and weighing) of the different types of litter we pick up, so that we can add it to the MCS national database. We will then carry out a full clean of Minehead beach, as well as in the town itself, focusing on particular litter hotspot areas. At the end of the event, we will return back to The Beach Hotel to sort out all of the litter collected, and take it away for recycling / disposing of responsibly. Although we will provide litter pickers and sacks on the day for collecting debris, please can you ensure that you bring along your own strong gloves and waterproof clothing, as well as sturdy footwear. You can be rest assured that every single piece of litter you pick up will make an absolutely massive difference! Thank you very much for all of your help and support, it is really appreciated! We look forward to seeing you there!…

We recommend that volunteers bring a rucksack with a few essentials like sunscreen, waterproofs and perhaps some snacks and a drink (in a reusable container). We also advise volunteers to bring a strong pair of gloves for protection when they are picking up litter.

Home Start West Somerset

We did it!  The weather was perfect, the West Somerset coastline was beautiful. Lots of people took part along the way. Sponsorship money is still coming in. It looks as if we have raised a good sum. Home Start West Somerset can continue its great work. We are tired after many miles but will be tireless in making sure the money is used for the benefit of young families in West Somerset. Heartfelt thanks to everyone who sponsored me.
