Fundraising by Will

Will Thomas from Vicarage Court, is back and fundraising for a charity close to his heart.

This year Will is fundraising for Autism, by walking 10,000 steps each day for 8 days. He will be walking from the 26th March until World Autism acceptance day, on 2nd April. Will has chosen to raise money for Autism, after his Autism diagnosis last year. He would like to raise vital funds to help raise awareness, acceptance and to help adults and children with autism, to gain much needed help and support around the country.

Will is so grateful for the support he’s had from the Timberscombe residents and the local community, over the last couple of years. He enjoys raising money for charity’s and sends thanks to everyone who supports him, on his fund raising adventures.

He is aware that times are hard for everyone and only asks for support, if you can.

Will has been training and walking the local countryside to practice and prepare himself for the big week!

Please help Will raise viral funds for Autism, which will help children and adults, just like him. Will has raised an amazing £131 so far and would like to reach his £250 target. If he reaches his target, he will be awarded a medal for his efforts!

Please help him to reach his target.  There will be a collection pot at Timberscombe post office with a sponsor form or you can follow the link or QR code below.

Many Thanks,

Katy Thomas

Voter Authority Certificates

UK electors are now required to show an accepted form of photographic identification to receive their ballot paper(s) to cast their vote in a polling station as from May 2023 at the following polls:

UK Parliamentary general elections (from October 2023)
Recall petitions
Local elections in England (from May 2023)
Local referendums in England
Police and Crime Commissioner elections in England and Wales

Statistics show that huge numbers of older voters could be disenfranchised at local elections this May after official data has shown that only 505 people aged 75-plus have applied for free voter identification documents (known as Voter Authority Certificates) in the month since the scheme launched.

If you want to vote in the 2023 elections and you do not have any of the accepted forms of photographic ID, you can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate, specifically for the purpose of voting. Click here to find out which existing forms of photo ID will be accepted and allow you to vote.

If you don’t have any form of acceptable photo ID, click here to visit the gov.uk website, which has all the info on how to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate.

Timberscombe Village Show 2023

This year the village show will be held on Saturday 19th August in the village hall as usual.

2023 Knitting Pattern

This year’s knitting pattern is a sausage dog draught excluder. It will be a great way to use up all your odds and ends of yarn. The whole project, knitted as per the pattern, takes approximately 220g of yarn but you can make the sausage dog shorter or longer, in whatever yarn you have, and in whatever colours you like. Marion will leave a bag of odds and ends of yarn in the post office to help if you are short of colours, please just help yourself.

There is link to the pattern below but if you have trouble with accessing the pattern please contact Marion on 841318 and she will help.

There will be 5 classes for photographers this year;

  1. Beach scene
  2. Exmoor sunrise or sunset
  3. Gates (black and white)
  4. My pet
  5. Fruit and/or vegetables

As many of us have mobile phones with cameras there is really no excuse not to enter these classes, so make the most of spring and early summer – happy snapping!

There are of course many other categories from baking to painting, craftwork, flower arranging and growing fruit, flowers and veg. More details will follow in due course.

We hope as many villagers as possible will enter this a fun event for all ages and all interests.

If you would like to be involved with helping to run the Show, please contact Kate (841745) or Marion (841318), we are always in need of volunteers! Thank you.

If you have friends who are not on-line or do not receive the village e-news letter, please do pass this information on. We will also publish it in the Dunkery Tidings.
