Please donate your old ink cartridges.

Thank you to everybody who donated their old ink cartridges last month. We raise an wonderful £33.75 for the Timberscombe Play Area in July.

If you have any empty , or unwanted, original ink cartridges please could you donate them to the Timberscombe Playing Field by leaving them in the collection box in the Post Office.

Old cartridges are worth a surprising amount of money when sent off to recycling companies and it help Timberscombe Playing Field to raise much needed funds. The cartridges must be originals branded ones i.e. Hp, Cannon, Brother, etc , not compatible ones, but almost all makes are worth something (unfortunately, laser cartridges are not accepted). Just drop you cartridges in the box in the Post Office and we will sort them.

Thank you.

Rubbish collections this week

Somerset Council has announced that there will be no recycling or rubbish collections taking place on Bank Holiday Monday, 25 August.

Collection days will change across Somerset following the bank holiday.

All collections will move back 1 day.

If a resident’s usual collection day is Monday, it will now take place on Tuesday.

Tuesday collections will be moved to Wednesday, Wednesday collections to Thursday, and so on.

For those who usually have a Friday collection, their collection will be rescheduled to Saturday 30 August.

If opening on a Monday is part of the Recycling Site’s opening days, then it will be open as usual from 9am to 6pm on Bank Holiday Monday.

To help manage the increased volume of recycling, residents are encouraged to make extra space in their recycling boxes by crushing and flattening their recyclables.

This simple step can make a difference to help reduce the number of trips crews need to make to empty their vehicles.

For more information about what can be collected for recycling and to check a collection day, visit the Council’s Bins, recycling and waste page.

I am writing from Somerset Sight, a local charity that supports visually impaired people in Somerset. We would be grateful if you could please display the attached posters to help promote these Somerset Sight events and services.
Mobile Advisory Service dates: Our MAS visits a different town or village in Somerset every day and is stocked with various gadgets and resources that can assist the visually impaired. People are welcome to visit the MAS if they wish to buy anything or are simply seeking advice and guidance. No appointment needed.
Volunteers Needed: We are always looking for new volunteers to visit and support visually impaired people across Somerset so that they feel less lonely and isolated.

Various stallholders will be on site selling their goods, there will be classic cars to view and numerous games and events including a Dog Show, a Tombola, Welly Throwing and Splat The Rat.
