The uncut grass proved to be a real Marmite topic, with people either loving it or hating it.
95 people responded and comments on the ballot paper ranged from
“turn the village green in to a car park” to
“it looks lovely – better than a green desert!”
The overall results were:
59% would like the green cut throughout the summer months
40% would like to see the green left uncut for the summer months
1% did not want either option.
Regardless of this result , it is now time for the grass to be cut anyway. The Parish Council will, however, bear this result in mind for next year and cut the village green regularly throughout the summer.
Several people also commented on the areas around the football pitch. The football pitch and the external hedging is owned by the Church (the big church, not the local church) and rented by Timberscombe First School. Unfortunately, the Parish Council are, therefore, unable to maintain this area, as it is the responsibility of the School.
Thank you to everybody who took the time to respond to the questionnaire.
