On Sat 19th August Timberscombe Village Hall welcomed enthusiastic visitors of all ages to its annual show. It was encouraging to see that the attendance had increased by almost 50% on 2022. Last year had been a poor one for growers, this year proved better; there was a higher number of entrants overall and it was heartening to see new people taking up the challenge. We are also lucky to have a well supported Children’s Section; as always the walls were panelled with prints and sketches, provided by the children. The tables were filled with vegetables, flowers and bakery with home made preserves; plus a craft table groaning with exhibits; which all demonstrated the wealth of creative and green fingered talent in the village.
The afternoon was a happy occasion and the atmosphere was lively. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the raffle, including some local traders who gave vouchers. Thank you again to Allan Sutton for leading the auction.
The organisers are grateful to the staff at Timberscombe C of E 1st School and Pre school for their enthusiasm and engagement with the show and for organising the children’s school projects which are displayed on the day. Thanks to all the judges who constantly give up their valuable time to help keep village shows going; to the stewards and everyone who help with the miriad of tasks and to those from the community who come to enjoy the benefits of all the hard work and hopefully to be encouraged to enter in the future. Finally thank you to the exibitors for growing, crafting, painting, writing; without you we wouldn’t have a show. See you next year!
