The church is in the season of Lent, the 40 days run up to Easter, and one of my favourite Sunday’s is Mothering Sunday. On Mothering Sunday, we give thanks for the love and nurture of our mothersbut we also think of all those who play any kind of ‘mothering’ role in the lives of children and young people whether extended family members siblings, aunties, grandparents or those in the wider community teachers, nurses, all those who care for others.
St Petrock’s will be celebrating this on Sunday 10th March at the 11.00 am service. Please come and bring a photo of your mother so we can display the photos and give thanks for all they mean or have meant to us.
On Palm Sunday we are planning a Messy church Sunday service at 11.00am for children and families with crafts and food as we tell the story of Easter. All are welcome to come and join us.
We are also planning some short Easter meditations (no longer than 20 minutes) in Holy Week followed by breakfast in church on Tuesday 26th March, Wednesday 27th March and Friday 29th March at 9.30 am. These will be times of quiet reflection on the events leading up to Good Friday.
As we move towards Easter with the appearing of bright yellow daffodils and primroses and the warmth of the sun as daylight hours increase I am reminded of the hope that Easter brings. With the gold of dawn on that first Easter Sunday came the resurrection and new hope with the rising Son going out to a waiting world.
