Wessex Water starts work on Clouds Steep ( Cowbridge hill ) and A396 Dunster to Timberscombe road to the north of the village from the start of next year.

The nature of this mains replacement work means a road closure will be required to complete this final phase.

The main replacement will begin on Monday, 6 January 2025 and, in total, is expected to last for up to 16 weeks.

The A396 will be closed to through traffic just north of Timberscombe at night, between 7pm and 5am from Sundays and Thursdays for 16 weeks, finishing at the end of April 2025.

A signposted diversion will be in place and access will be maintained for residents within the closure and our on-site team will work with local customers with regard to any specific access requirements.

As part of our commitment to minimise disturbance locally, it is our intention to restrict noisy activity such as road cutting or breaking to between 7-11pm. In addition, we be using silent generators for lighting and acoustic barriers will be placed around areas where pipe bursting and winching operations are taking place.

The road will be reopened to through traffic during daytime, with multi-way traffic lights operating at the location of the work.

Water supply services can be used as normal unless we advise otherwise.
