On Saturday 3rd August you are warmly invited to join us in St Petrock’s churchyard between 10am – 12 noon to give whatever help you can to maintain our village churchyard. This group of volunteers meets on the first Saturday of each month, and we would love to have your assistance! Please bring whatever gloves, bags and tools you need with you. We dispose of the waste. Our first meet last month was well supported and good fun, with lots of laughter amongst the helpful works undertaken. Thank you all and we hope to see you again on 3rd August.

Marion and Kate

In a beautiful setting with wonderful gardens, delicious food – mains, salads and pudding, a licensed bar, entertainments for families, sheep – walking, tombola, raffles… need we say more? Come and join in the Bougham Bash with other villagers this Saturday 13th July from 12 noon. With the kind permission of owner Kate Hart, this annual event is lots of fun for everyone and helpfully is a terrific fundraiser for our village church. Tickets in advance of Saturday are £10 per person, children under 5 free. Available from the Post Office, The Lion Inn (after 5pm), St Petrock’s on Thursday morning 10am – 12 noon, and from Kate (841745) and Marion (841500). Tickets on the day are priced at £12. So why wait? If you need a lift (1/2 mile walk) please call Kate or Marion as no vehicular access on the day. Even the weather looks promising!

The High Sheriff of Somerset, Rob Beckley, will address the St Petrock’s History Group on Monday 15th at 7pm. As the 963rd holder of this ancient office (which is the oldest uninterrupted secular office under the Crown), he has some fascinating tales to tell about the role. We look forward to seeing you there!

You are warmly invited to the Village School Strawberry Fayre which will be happening tomorrow afternoon – 9th July – from 2-4pm. It is a fundraising opportunity for our school, and the children will be showing off their country dancing and singing! Your attendance and support would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
