churchyard gardening group

On Saturday 3rd August you are warmly invited to join us in St Petrock’s churchyard between 10am – 12 noon to give whatever help you can to maintain our village churchyard. This group of volunteers meets on the first Saturday of each month, and we would love to have your assistance! Please bring whatever gloves, bags and tools you need with you. We dispose of the waste. Our first meet last month was well supported and good fun, with lots of laughter amongst the helpful works undertaken. Thank you all and we hope to see you again on 3rd August.

Police Notice

We have been alerted to possible rogue traders operating in the Burnham-on-Sea and Brean areas offering roofing repairs and cleaning services. Elderly and vulnerable residents have been approached by three white males in their early 20’s who are very pushy and insist that they need to enter homes to access roofs and conservatories. Any work that has been done has been described as shoddy, with little or no evidence that anything has actually been done, and demand cash payment only. They are driving a 68-plate silver Ford Transit, which has a company name on the side. Although these offences have occurred in the Burnham area, we want to alert residents across Somerset as they may drive to other parts of the area to commit further offences.

Bougham Bash 2024

A very successful and fun afternoon was held at Bougham last weekend. Although the weather was a little inclement at the start it turned into a very pleasant afternoon. There were juicy, marinated chicken or haloumi kebabs accompanied by delicious salads and sauces. To finish we had wonderful puddings, all of which were enjoyed by a large number of villagers and visitors.

Thank you to Kate Hart who allowed us to invade her house and spectacular garden. We all enjoyed a well-stocked bar, tombola, quiz, games and, a first for the Bougham Bash, taking a sheep for a walk or in some cases the sheep taking the human for a walk!

Thank you to all the helpers, the chefs on the BBQ, those who donated salads, puddings, items for the tombola and to those who came to support us. We could not have achieved such a fun, successful afternoon without you all.

A magnificent total, after expenses, of £1502.83 was raised which will be a huge boost in assisting necessary repairs to the church, and making sure we can continue to offer a warm and welcoming church to our village community.
