Citizens Advice West Somerset help and advice in our local community on a vast array of issues. We can all face problems no matter how small, complicated or intimating they may seem Citizens Advice are there to help. We are impartial, confidential and non-judgemental. If you feel you need help, please contact Citizens Advice West Somerset on 0800 802 1808 or via email advice@citizensadvicewestsomerset.org.uk . The main office Market House Lane Minehead is open for you to drop in 10-1.30pm every day except Tuesday. Phoneline and Advice Emails are picked up between 8-6pm. They also offer outreach in Stogursey, Watchet, Minehead, Williton and Dulverton

Micro- Providers Drop In

Micro-Providers are providers of very small, community based care and support services.

Examples of micro-services could include:

  • Support to keep you well, socialise and remain independent
  • Support to people living in their own homes
  • Short breaks, respite and holidays
  • Support to access employment, education and leisure
  • Day support and help around the home or garden
  • Holistic or alternative therapies
  • Dog Walking
  • Hobbies, crafts or interests

To be registered as a ‘trusted provider’ on the Somerset Community Connect Enterprise programme, each provider has provided evidence that they meet the â€˜Doing it Right’ quality standards of the Somerset Micro-Enterprise Programme.

This includes:

  • Enhanced DBS Checks (within 3 years of date)
  • Public Liability Insurance
  • Terms of Service (Agreement/Contract)
  • Support Plan template
  • Complaints and Safeguarding Policy

 

Community survey for a new swimming pool & gym in Minehead

We were in touch last year about our efforts to bring a 25-metre, indoor, public swimming pool to Minehead, for the benefit of all in West Somerset. Thanks to all who helped spread the word in your communities, we’ve seen a lot of community support.
Over recent months we’ve gathered momentum, including getting a grant to do our business planning, joining forces with another local health and wellbeing group, having Minehead Town Council designate land at their Recreation Ground for a pool, and being invited by Sport England to put in a bid for a large grant this summer. It’s now time for us to consult with the public about what they would want in a new swimming pool, as well as a new gym for the GP exercise referral NHS scheme. To that end we’ve launched a questionnaire that members of the public can fill in, and the results will inform our more detailed, operational planning.
