Police Notice

Reports of recruitment fraud are rising in Avon and Somerset.

Fraudsters may advertise fake jobs, sometimes posing as well-known companies, and ask victims to pay fees for things like DBS checks, training, or work permits.

Fraudsters are also using messaging platforms like WhatsApp to lure people with offers of “extra income” through tasks like reviewing products or boosting website views.

They often encourage victims to invest in cryptocurrency, disguised as a “setup fee.” They might even add their victims to a group to make it seem like others are doing the same job or return a small amount of money early on to make the ‘job’ seem genuine.

If you suspect you’ve been targeted: Report it to Action Fraud: 0300 123 2040
