Cutcombe Hill Update

Please see below a summary of progress for the works undertaken on the A396 between 9 and 11 February 2026.

Across the three-day period, mobilisation was completed successfully, trial holes were carried out, and all required inductions were undertaken. Drilling progressed well, with 11 drill locations completed and concreted by the end of 11 February.

No safety incidents or operational issues were reported during this period. Traffic management remained stable with the night road closure in operation and the diversion routes are checked regularly, during the day the site is under traffic light control and the site consistently secured under TWS using a combination of bull barriers and Heras fencing.

Drilling is scheduled to continue the next shift, with potential completion of this phase depending on progress

Churchyard Maintenance

We restart the maintenance of our village churchyard again this Saturday 14th February for up to two hours from 10am. The focus for this Saturday is on the sycamore hedge between the two churchyards. If you can offer help that would be wonderful and please bring appropriate materials with you. As always, removal of the waste materials is done by us. The weather is set fair but cold so this session will go ahead. Thank you very much – Kate and Marion

Keep Timberscombe rubbish free

On my many walks around the village I am constantly seeing plastics , etc which have been blown out of open blue recycling bags. Please close the flap on your bag and put heavier items, such as your brown bin, on top of other waste to prevent it being blown away.

Police Notice

We are urging residents and businesses to be vigilant following reports counterfeit £20 notes are in circulation in Taunton. Officers have received reports the counterfeit notes have been used in separate transactions at two outlets and are now issuing advice on how to spot them. The first incident was reported at a filling station on Priory Bridge Road at around 7.30pm on Thursday 29 January and at a retail outlet in East Street at around 10.35am on Thursday 5 March. Similar incidents have occurred in Bristol and South Gloucestershire, and we’ve also received reports counterfeit notes have been used to purchase items which have been advertised for sale on social media selling sites. PC Luke Elliot, officer in the case, said: “We are aware a small number of counterfeit notes have entered circulation, and we want to warn businesses and the public to remain vigilant and follow our advice to prevent more people becoming victims of fraud. “A full and thorough investigation into how these notes have entered circulation is being carried out, and we are issuing advice so people can be confident they’re accepting genuine payments for goods and services they are providing.” If cash transactions are necessary, please follow the advice in the attached PDF.
